Abigail Asante-Abedi

Abigail Asante-Abedi, ACIB, BSc (Hons), MBA (Consultant and Lead Structured/Project Finance Specialist)

Abigail is an accomplished banker with over 20 years’ international experience in investment, corporate and retail banking. She carefully honed her Project/ Structured Finance specialization during her fifteen year services at The Royal Bank of Scotland Plc and The Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ, Ltd where, among other transactions, she evaluated new business opportunities and managed £250million of committed capital in 13 large-scale syndicated projects from £300million to £3billion, with up to 45 international participant banks per deal.


She has been the “Agent Banker” for two UK wind farm deals totaling £350million and a capacity of 456 MW, managing all aspects of the related transaction, coordinated all credit processes, negotiated terms with project sponsors and liaised with legal and technical specialists on the syndicate’s behalf. Her role included managing the entire syndicate’s project risk and insurance position identifying potential and actual distressed positions for refinancing and/or sale and evaluating new business opportunities. Abigail assisted Ecobank Ghana in implementing the bank’s agreed strategy, for a portfolio of Ghanaian parastatal companies and managed circa. US$ 160M of committed capital across 10 relationships in the oil & gas, commodities, utilities and transportation sectors. She was a member of the specialist Oil and Gas team and has an extensive network within Government of Ghana l Ministries Department Agencies (MDA’s), the Bank of Ghana, Attorney General and strategic public sector companies.


Abigail has been part of a team for a major power utility to determine new generation projects and to source for long term debt financing such projects. She was part of the team honored by Euromoney for concluding US$150million project financed power plant in a record time. She has also assisted mitigating exposures to commodity price volatilities through negotiation and execution the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA) Agreement four international Counter-parties.
